We all know that eyes are the window to the soul, but they are an essential part of your everyday life, too. Good eyesight is vital for your independence; you need it to read, drive and to keep yourself safe. Yet a significant proportion of people do not have their eyes examined at regular intervals, while many people have never had an eye examination at all.
Why do I need an eye examination?
Unlike teeth, our eyes do not normally hurt when something is wrong. Often, because sight deterioration can be gradual, people don’t realize that they aren’t seeing as well as they should be. Regular examinations are important because the sooner a vision problem is detected, the greater the chances are of it being treated successfully – this is particularly true with young children and the elderly. An eye examination can also reveal a number of other underlying health problems such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
Unless otherwise advised, you should have an eye examination every two years. It may be necessary to have them more frequently, depending on your age and medical history.
At Peter Booth Opticians we have gained our reputation over the past 40 years by ensuring we provide our patients with a thorough eye examination, we look forward to exceeding your expectations.
